Daisy and Alex
Alex Hammond, Sky Sports News Presenter & her adopted dog Daisy the Cockapoo
"I chose to adopt as I feel there are plenty of gorgeous dogs out there needing a home. I was brought up in a family who always adopted and although my first two dogs were bought from breeders I decided that from now on adopting was the way forward for me. I lost one of my Labradors in February and knew I wanted to give a needy dog a home so got in touch with Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and they couldn't have been more helpful. I paid a visit and fell in love with Daisy, who is a Cockapoo, instantly. There are so many dogs there and it was heartbreaking only having room to take one home. The support I received from Battersea was second to none and I'm proud to have their car sticker in my window to try and encourage others to go down the same route. I'm not sure how they know, but I feel a rescue dog knows they have been given a second chance and Daisy has been a joy and is completely devoted to me already. It has been the start of a fantastic journey and a hugely worthwhile and satisfying one too. I feel very lucky that Daisy chose me and I'm looking forward to many happy years with such a loveable pup (did I mention she loves a cuddle?)! Even with her new brother who is kind enough to give her basket room!"
"I think that the Pet Adoption UK website helps put adoption in people's minds definitely!"
