The service started in 1994 by SCAS ( the Society for Companion Animal Studies). In 1998 it was run in partnership with Blue Cross and in January 2013 Blue Cross took over and it became the Pet Bereavement Support Service. We support pet owners that are bereaved, planning euthanasia, have a missing pet, or have had to re-home due to financial difficulties, family break up or illness. Calls are answered between 8.30am and 8.30pm every day of the year. Emails are responded to within 48 hours of receipt. Our listening line is accredited with the Helplines Partnership.
